ArtFul Haiku

Poetry Contest
Haiku is a Japanese short poetic form focusing on a direct observation.

-capture an observable moment in time
-personification is allowed
-artistic expression is encouraged: pictures, sound, color.... go crazy, have fun
-in the present tense
-no capitalization and punctuation (except proper nouns)
-follows a short-long-short line format utilizing 17 or FEWER syllables;
-two lines are grammatically connected
-the third line serves as an ah-ha moment or satori.

And this an example of a Haiku that Ray (mountainwriter49) graciously consented to share with us:

haiku (wild flame azaleas):

wild flame azaleas
ablaze along water's edge
spring's fiery bouquet

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 76.00 member dollars. There are only -1 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
