DwaRazy "word" Acrostic poem
Poetry Contest
Write a DwaRazy "whole word" Acrostic poem.
A DwaRazy uses a word, or the appearence of a word, twice in each line. As an example:
Dream, dreaming, dreamt
Run, runs, running, ran
The dream I dreamt of me last night,
was how I ran, runnng from a fight.
The twice used word does not have to look the same... such as seek/sought, buy/bought. Or, it may be a "visual" pairing and be "encapsulated" within another word... amore/more, bit/ bitter, allowed/ all owed.
Amore is love, and does not mean more in the strict sense. Bit and bitter are not related, although one could say, a bit of bitter feelings. Allowed and all owed are identical in spelling though they mean two entirely different things -
"They fought a fight to make it through the crowd,
"Because they all owed the maximum allowed."
That is a DwaRazy and we have already had some good entries when I first introduced the form a few months ago. This time, the contest calls for the DwaRazy to be an acrostic of words, rather than letters. Rather than write an acrostic where the first letter of each line spells the title, write a DwaRazy acrostic using the words in a quote. The first word of each line must spell out the quote. As an example,
A Little Suffering Is Good For The Soul
(A) time for secrets rose from (A)my's soul,
(Little) did it (belittle) her anxious goal,
(Suffering) what true love makes one (suffer,)
(Is), or (isn't) this how the heart grows tougher?
Etc.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 35.00 member dollars. There are 11 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
