How does the world end?

This is a competition as to who can devise the most unique and either hopeful or merciless depiction of the way human civilization will come to an end. It can be fantasy, supernatural horror, stupid scientists dropping something, a natural apocalypse or something falling from the sky. Or any other version you choose. See yourself as a prophet? Prophesize away and tell us why we're all doomed or all saved or whatever way you think that the world might end--

The contest winner will win the full prize pool. This is a winner take all contest. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
