Master of the Wolven House
FanStory is a place where people write. There is more to it than that, but put simply, it's a place for writers who want to write. I'm a writer. You're a writer. We're writers. And I want you to write.
Imagine a building of cold stone. Large, sprawling, and vast. Its grounds extend for miles in every direction, and are filled with rich and untamed woodlands. Wolves roam the grounds, and the building is in various stages of dereliction. It's falling apart, stone by stone.
This building could be in this world, or in another of your own creation. The landscape around it echoes that of northern Europe - the high glens and mountainous skyline, the mingled snow and bare rock in winter; evergreen foliage dappled with snow. In summer, the snow fades, save from the higher peaks of the mountains, and the lush foliage is pristine in the clear chill air.
In this building there is a single resident. Their character is entirely your choice, save for a single fact; they are a werewolf. Not a shambling monster of B-horror movies, but a person whose humanity is interchangable with a wolven nature and shape.
Somebody comes to this building. They could be a distant family member, growing into their lupine heritage, or about to be introduced to it. They could be a student of architecture, visiting the house as in-depth research. They could be a child running away from home, cast out of their hitch-hiked lift by a malicious driver. Or they could be anyone at all that you decide.
There is no word limit set on this whatsoever. You can write a short story, or a novella, or the introduction to a novel. The choice lies with you. Feel free to contact me with any questions, or even simply to check that your proposed entry is suitable.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 65.00 member dollars. There are 5 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
