Romantic Writing

FanStory.com and Breathless Press have teamed up to provide the romantic stories writing competition exclusively for FanStory.com writers. To the winners goes a publishing contract offer with Breathless Press and free promotion.

Whether it's a Sexy Santa, Naughty Elf, a quick tryst under the Mistletoe or a romantic rendezvous to a lighted Menorah, Breathless Press wants it. Share your tales of holiday love. Share writing that targets adults.

This contest is for writing that falls into (but are not limited to one) either: romance or erotic (or any subgenre of the two), paranormal, and suspense.

Stories should be between 1,000 and 10,000 words. All submissions will be shared in book format and requires the prologue to be a query letter.

Submission Directions
This contest requires creating a book. So prior to submitting your first chapter you should create a book. Click here to create your book. After you create your book you will be prompted for your first chapter. That will be your query letter. Mark it as a prologue by specifying that it is chapter "0" when you post it. Your query letter should also include your title, genre and word count, a brief synopsis of your story and any relevant credits you may have. Instructions on creating a query letter

You have created your book. It only has your query letter. Now it is time to add your first chapter. Click here to create your first chapter. It will be initially saved as a short story in the contest. To add it to your book locate it in your portfolio and click the "Add To A Book" button. All future chapters (if needed) will be added to your book by clicking the "Add Chapter" button that is available when you view a chapter in this book. Only the first chapter needs to be entered as a contest entry. Your entire book will be considered by the publisher.

Your book will only be considered if your book is marked as completed. When you have completed your book locate your book in your portfolio and click the button provided to mark it as complete. At that point it will be made available to Breathless Press for consideration. Your book must be marked complete prior to the contest deadline to be considered. Do not mark it as complete until you are ready to have it read by the Breathless Press editors. The editors will be reading the books as they are marked completed.

The contest winners will receive a contract offer with Breathless Press. Sample Breathless Press Contract. The contract is for ebooks. Breathless Press will be publishing print books on select titles after several months as ebooks.

The winner takes away a $100 cash prize. All writers will receive feedback for their submission.
