A Sonnet
"Tribulation" by Robert Zimmerman
The day began with light that pierced the dark,
as news proclaimed a sickness in the land.
I contemplated scenes that border stark.
No way could this duress be what I planned.

Confirming more, I watched throughout the day.
Grave words grew dark, I wondered, “is this true?”
I hung on every phrase they had to say.
A wall rose up that I could not see through.

Fears forced me to decide what I should do.
Frustration grew, I tried to ascertain,
how can I keep this thing from crashing through?
What must I do to hold my full domain?

The plague that fills the land must not prevail.
I will not let this spate my faith assail.
