A long ago adventure
"A Seasick Saga" by jaybird1
My friend and I, with great desire
and minds that must have been afloat,
decided we should let off steam
so, off we went to buy a boat.

No runabout would do for us,
thanks to my partner, (what a louse).
So, bravely we went out and bought
a do-it-yourself floating house.

Folks said we'd have a barrel of fun
but, barrels of work was what we had.
Before we got things all in place
I personally met a million shad.

A nail is mighty hard to drive
on a windy, rolling lake , we found.
But, finally we dressed her up
by the grace of God and quarterround.

Now all dressed up and motorized,
she cuts each swelling wave and rolls
with serene grace, Oh! What a balm
for taut strung nerves and troubled souls.

When I'm afloat my nerves are calm,
no doubts or worries crease my face
and thoughts of money all are gone,
but, my stomach is out of place.----1964

Author Notes
It is very hard to remodel a houseboat, once it is afloat
