free verse poem
"The forgetful season..." by trimple

broken Hyacinth!
My flute to the ground...

your blue petals
stained with tears--

it would seem
as if
in mid-sentence--
your bellying head
drenched, in yesterday's cold perfume...

Are you bored with this ole life?

Hey! You there,
anchored to a lone breast...
are you sleepy?
has the slow suck of death
drugged you into submission?

Your thick neck
like a slow cooling pigeon
as if all your wishes
were stolen by Santa Claus.

Only now,
in the landscape of my living room,
as I stare at you

I've remembered your thirst--
 your tears
now my own--

sup my forgetfulness
spectacular rain

so that, once again,
your headiness
saturates the air
from the moon of your bowl,

where children float
in the roots of your sighs.

Stand up!

Hold your head high
and drink by the balcony
'neath midnight's timeless crest;

then, please...
look at me tomorrow,

face to face...
