A mixed up teenager
"Growing With Time" by jaybird1
When at sixteen I played it cool,
smoked, drank and broke most eve'ry rule.
I lived my life free from all care.
It seemed my parents were not there.

My mother knew compassion, love
and sought life's blessings from above.
Father was firm and daily worked,
when duty called, he never shirked.

I'm thirty now, with wife and kids.
I'm free of youthful, harmful skids
and know whatever happens, I'm
strong and growing, growing with time.

My thanks to mom, my thanks to dad,
my life is good, for that I'm glad.

April-1982
