My drawing tutor
"Stan" by Colin Lowley
Stan Turnham
I found this old drawing from some 45 years ago,
in my plan chest, where they are supposed to go,
it was not my own, but we drew much the same,
he showed me the ropes, Stan Turnham his name.

He was a stonemason who could also draw,
make everything work with mathematics no chore,
a board stood tall with tracing sheets galore,
we drew and drew as the building did sore.

Westminster Abbey is down to him and me,
me the Apprentice through his eyes I could see,
with the many, the band of brothers from our past,
we restored this building so that it will always last.

He was offered a better job down Whitehall way
before he could leave one question I say,
How do you do this? For my next job I had to ask,
"use the center line, flip the templets, don't be daft"

Author Notes
Good old Stan, gone now but always remembered.
One of his drawings attached I have saved about four of them.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
