A salvation privilege
"Three Blessings for Believers" by Deniz22

"One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek;

Comment:  King David, "the man after God's own heart", desired ONE thing, which had three components and he determined to pursue it :

1. BLESSED SECURITY; "That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,"

2. BLESSED SIGHT; "To behold the beauty of the Lord,"

3. BLESSED SATISFACTION; "And to inquire in His temple."   Psalm 27:4 - NKJV

The first one comes from knowing we are saved forever by our faith in Christ.
John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."

The second one is achieved by meditating on the Word of God.
"My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord." (Psalm 104:34 KJV)

The third and most neglected blessing is available to all believers.
"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord"  Hosea 6:3a KJV

Summation: every believer is equipped by the Spirit to know and understand the whole Bible. Our failure to grow and develop as believers is directly linked to our understanding of God's WORD. It is addressed here by Peter;

"For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins."  2 Peter 1:9 -NKJV and Proverbs 1:23: "Turn at my rebuke; surely I will pour out my Spirit on you; I will make My words known to you."

So be encouraged to be single-minded in pursuing David's one three-part goal...for the simple reason your sins have been forgiven and you are now a new creature in Christ, equipped to know God, grow in grace and go into the world for Him.

Author Notes
2 Peter 3:18 New King James Version (NKJV)
18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
