Mad Men
"The Canyons of Wall Street" by Carlos' girl
Pass the hallowed
Trinity church
on the way to work,
cross yourself and pray
it's just another day

I never wanted to go there
but I fell in, to the powerful din,
the cold grey stock exchange

My boss named xxxx,
an Irish lawyer
who was shrewd,
silent and complex,
never, ever rude

He knew how to invest
in the dark corridors of power,
while I sat at my desk
silent as a wallflower

you aren't in agreement
when you're Legal
and Compliance,
just watch as the traders
are sharing an alliance

drinking lunch at the bar
their mobile phones on roam,
someone orders a car
and the traders go home

Watch as the numbers drop
and order in some lunch,
boss at the barber shop
and you have got a hunch

The clock it strikes five
and the place empties out,
your body feels alive
as you take the same route

Past the Trinity steeple
where there goes the devout,
you're here amongst the people
it feels good to get out.
