A Loving Husband's (Imagined) Account
"No Wand Required--She is Magic" by Cynthia Adams1

You, with tresses long and chestnut
Found a man who favored blondes
I love your “dark blonde” hair, I mean it
I would not change you if I had a wand.

You floored me with your philosophic ramble
I’d never heard ideas from far beyond
When I’d read your books, my mind would scramble
I would not change you if I had a wand.

People skills and care for others noted
Strangers wait in line to correspond
Every other day I hear you quoted
I would not change you if I had a wand.

You are a fledgling artist and a writer
With creative types you have a bond
In human rights arenas, you’re a fighter
I would not change you if I had a wand.

If I had a wand, I’d put it in the trash can
A luckless guy would grab it and abscond
With your love, I am a more accepting man
My  “what if” voices are forever calmed.
