I've written study guides on novels, and articles for magazines. I'm beginning to write poetry and would appreciate feedback and encouragement.

The morning rush always involves finding shoes.
"Morning Saga" by Carol Clark2
My mommy said it's time to leave.
She's walking to the door.
I try to put my jacket on,
But something's in the sleeve.

"Will someone help me find my shoe?
I had it on the floor.
I looked in all my hiding spots,
So what else can I do?"

My mommy's face is turning red.
I think she's getting mad.
She'll say I'm making her be late.
"I'll go look on my bed."

My shoe is right where Mommy said.
I think she will be glad.
Oh no! The lace is in a knot!
Why can't they zip instead?

I stomp my foot and jump and prance.
My shoe is going on!
My mom will be so proud of me
She'll do the happy dance.

But as I run out toward the door,
My mom looks at the clock.
I see she has a frowny face,
And I stare at the floor.

She lifts my face and whispers low,
"You need to organize.
But I still love you deep inside,
And always will, you know."
