A Poem
"Sigmund Freud" by Dolly'sPoems
Complexities of mental health
were often brushed aside;
with antiquated treatment, dealt,
compassion was denied;
and none of them would listen to
the anxious thoughts of those
who struggled with the daily brew
of problems that arose.

But Freud had found a new approach,
allowed the words to flow--
unlocked unconscious thoughts to coach
and let the patient know--
that it's okay to heal our minds
express anxiety,
and note the tell-tale mental signs,
in order to be free.

Author Notes
Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) was an Austrian neurologist. He was the founder of psychoanalysis, a method of clinically treating patients with psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst.

By encouraging the patient to express any random thoughts that came to mind, the technique would uncover unconscious thoughts that had been suppressed through trauma and thus unblocking the mind to find release.
