Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
Pondering the feel of loneliness.
"Lonesome Sound" by dellsworthpoet
Loneliness feels hollow,
not scalding like grief.
The wail of the blues harp
complaining to inattentive gods.
The mourning dove's plaintive call.
The wind susurrating in the grass.

It is quiet and not keening,
it is dull ache not a sharp pain.

Loneliness is homeland of the blues,
for "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen."

And loneliness can be a cancer
that feeds on itself.

But, the most distressing conundrum,
loneliness can exist when not alone.

Author Notes
Sometimes words are confusing. I have tried to separate loneliness from grief and sorrow. It is an interesting task to work on. Thanks for this prompt. Graphic from: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki. Public domain.
