Free verse about addiction
"The Phoenix"

|
all alone nobody to talk to
in her small abode
a fragile zone
no more social hugs
or class A drugs
with no money,
unable to escape
fear of fear
darkness closing
all that was pure is lost
believing that her
cries fell on deaf ears
loss of emotion
yet not wanting to die
time can heal.
the lacerated wound
her only option
was to make a choice
to live
and she did
found inner strength
when
a new door opened
bravely she walked through
so can you

The phoenix rising from the ashes is likened to beating an addiction, one has to have a strong will and major strength, but it can be done and it has been done.
