Mother' grief for a daughter, in law enforcement
"Unadulterable Grief" by called2rite
I learned to be brave,
beside an open grave,
Way down south.
Silent cries, fish mouth.
It could have been on a Kansas plain,
but love took her down another lane.

Just thinking.

The men in blue,
honored her, too.
Lights: blue and red, giving a purple cast,
town's flags flown half-mast
Hands to forehead: salutes,
black shining boots.
Flowers from a basket,
singly placed on a casket.

Just thinking.

Dark endless nights,
emotions and thoughts take flights.
Gentle snoring, spouse slept.
Pillow damp, I wept.
Grief: something together, we share,
but each alone, had memories to bear.
Our oldest,
the boldest.
Maybe that's why she chose,
a career with; danger close.

Just thinking.

It's been four years, last Christmas Day,
since she was taken; away.
God, I know it was your will,
but still;
I wonder sometimes, why
and sometimes I still; cry.

Just thinking.
