It's the greatest gift we can give
"What Is Love?" by Kathleen Washnis
Love is patient, love is kind, it's not proud, it does not boast,
Remember these words at your next wedding toast.
It's not self seeking, not easily angered, it keeps no record of your wrongs,
It does not dishonor others, the best way we can get along.

Does cupid really draw back his bow?
An arrow through the heart then love starts to flow?
It's not planned, it just happens, a physical attraction.
You think you can't live without it, it's a welcome distraction.

Will you only express love on Valentine's Day?
You give a heart shaped box of chocolates and then a bouquet?
Perhaps some roses or carnations, red, white and pink,
It's a kind gesture but what will your loved one think?

For love is truly a matter of the heart,
If it's only a formality then it will depart.
It can't be bought, it's given free,
But the cost is great, your emotions you see.

Many confuse love and lust,
Both can be felt but only one will not rust.
For true love is unconditional,
It can't be earned, are you getting the principle?

Love runs deep, emotions of the heart,
You express it in gifts but true love won't depart.
If you intend to give me a diamond ring,
In order to accept it, then true love you must bring.

For in the end, what will it matter?
If you have cars, homes and jewelry that flatters?
When you're on your death bed, will you ask to count your pennies?
Or rather have a loved one hold your hand,
As you enter into the land of good and plenty.

Love is the greatest gift you can give,
It's the best reason we've been able to live.
So let's love one another with a pure heart,
It's time we made a brand new start.
