I have returned to Fanstory after a break of nearly two years. I wrote under the handle "alpacalady" but decided that as I no longer am part of an alpaca breeding concern, my id needed changing. My new name Gypsymooncat reflects my star-sign (Cancer) - more...

Chapter 3 of the book How About Humour...
Catnaps are not permitted in the Inbox
"Tea Break" by Gypsymooncat

I went for a walk round the garden today,
with my camera lense ready and set up to zoom.
But nothing stood out, so I packed it away;
my ebullient mood overtaken by gloom...

I sighed, went inside, feeling pretty dejected,
then plonked myself down in my old swivel chair;
when I had the thought I was being inspected.
I turned and saw this, now I'm in deep despair

It seems that the cat thinks he works in my office!
But I am unsure what position he holds -
Receptionist? Clerk? An Assistant named Horace?
Methinks Mr Kitty may not have been told...

...employees can't stop and curl up for a catnap
till they're on their lunch or official tea break.
He hasn't attempted one thing marked as "asap",
and doesn't seem worried he's making mistakes!

So I told him...

While the Inbox is FULL he must stop all the slackin',
and get that thing empty before he goes home.
He has to wake up and get seriously crackin',

He wasn't too keen and his downright refusal
to do what's beneath him has caused me to groan,
and ditch the whole thing in the garbage disposal;
this business will fail (at least he's off the phone).

But then...

He somehow convinced me by smooching and purring,
that he'd prefer me as Assistant to him.
Now I am named Horace, but what's more disturbing:
he's saving on wages! My future looks grim...

Darn cat

Author Notes
My back is giving me curry and I can't walk too far, so walks around my yard are the best I can do. Sadly, nothing stood out on my short stroll, but when I came back inside, I was greeted with my ginger cat Tig (aka Fabio) curled up in what we call our "Inbox". So here's a rather ridiculous poem that I think smacks a bit of Tomfoolery. I like makes sense to me lol!

Thanks for reading!
