How I feel when I see The Flag in a parade.
"Flag Passing By"
by Suzanna Ray
I can't explain the emotion I feel when I stand at attention as the Flag passes by.
Is it admiration, or deep felt appreciation, for those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy!
My own father was at a station, far away from us, during that conflagration as it engulfed many a nation, those many years ago.
I remember when the citizens of this great nation, came together; sacrificing something of themselves, with Will and Dedication to win that war.
Men, women and children like myself, worked without reservation, to do our part.
What will happen when my generation is no longer here, to remind the world of lessons learned!
That the freedoms of common people, so sorely won, can be taken by Those who's words invite
destruction!
Words that promise riches or privilege and admiration.
Words, that have always been used, to excuse exploitation of whole populations, their land and labor.
I pray that God's Grace will prevent it from happening again, that devastation.
With expectation, and hope unfettered, I wait for the day of Jubalation!
