Communicating love as a mentally ill mother
"Love Hidden" by Flyaway1

Do you not recognize
my heart for you?
Can you not see me?

Do you not know how much
I care about your dreams?
Can you not see my hope for you?

Do you not know how proud I am of you?
Can you not see my admiration?

Do you not know that I love what I see in you?
Do you not see how I fight for

Do you not see my arms extended open to you?
Can you not see my hope?

Can you not forgive my many failures,
Can you not see my longing
to connect?

Do you not know that God
has dealt with me?
Have you not seen how God
is transforming me?

How can I know your words or thoughts of me?
Can you and I not try to
do love better?

Do you not recognize my true heart?
Can you not try to see me?

Author Notes
I have worked for years on being a stable individual and a mother that is present. I do not really know what my children say about me, but I often feel like I am someone to be tolerated. I can not change my children, but I wish they could see the deep love I feel. Not being able to communicate in an appropriate way gets in the way of what my heart feels. I will never show this piece to my children. Just needed to release it and let it go.
