Trying to lose weight.
"Sweatin' to the Oldies" by Patty Palmer
Getting out of the shower
The full- length mirror caught my eye
I couldn’t believe what I saw
But I thought that I could die!

There I stood in all my glory
There was nowhere to hide
How had I gotten into this mess
I sat on the bed and cried.

My pity party over
A thought took me by surprise
My pretty little swimsuit
Will never fit over my thighs!

I made a vow there and then
To take off those extra pounds
No more goodies no more snacks
I pledged to stand my ground!

Decked out in my too-tight sweats
Starting to get into the mood
But when my kids got a look at me
They laughed and started to moo!

I turned on the video
Ah, there’s my faithful friend
Richard Simmons then appeared
To work out with me again!

We’ll Sweat to the Oldies
Dear Richard and
“Step up.  Step down.”
This was easy as could be!

Now the music started
An old song from the past
I marched and I twirled my heart out
Praying that I could last.

I was really sweating now
My breaths were more of a wheeze
Willing myself to carry on
Even though I was weak in the knees.

And as the next song began
I took my beginning stance
But the first few beats of Wipe Out
And I thought I’d poop my pants!

Switching off the video
I ran off to my room
I threw on my pajamas
Opened a pack of macaroons!

Once again, I thought of my suit
But now I faced my fear
Shoving in another cookie I vowed
To buy a bigger size next year!
