Blind date with a soldier
"Love is Blind" by Patty Palmer
It was a blind date
That set my fate
So many years ago.

I tried to bow out
For I had my doubt
How this night might go.

It's only one night!
Don't make such a fright!
It's a date not your wedding!

It might not be so bad
The premonitions I had
So I decided to stop fretting!

He's a soldier just wait
You'll see that he's great!
So I decided to give in.

He was just as they said
Cute and well-bred
On his face, he had a sweet grin.

He was a little bit shy
I liked that in a guy
Our first kiss I found was divine!

When our date was over
He didn't ask for another
If he had it would have been fine.

I thought that's the end
I'll never see him again
That's just the way things are.

Coming out from work
My heart gave a lurch
There he was standing by my car!

Well that was 50 years ago
At times it's been touch and go
And today I still love him so!

My friends said that just going out on one date with him didn't mean I had to marry him. LOL We were married 8 months later!
