Contests more exciting if more people voted
"Did You Remember to Vote?" by Patty Palmer
Hey, I see a contest!
Looks like it might be fun.
Maybe I could write a poem
And be voted number one!

What shall I write about
Should it be sad or funny?
I guess it doesn't matter
As long as it pays money!

I think and I ponder
About what to say.
Suddenly an inspiration
I go with it right away.

The words fall quickly
Black words on a white page.
Ideas go through my fingers
With passion and courage.

Finally, I've finished
Now to edit here and there
Rewrite this, punctuate that
It's time for me to share.

I look high and low
For a picture I might add
To the words I've written
That compliment what I had.

OK, now I'm entered
I wait for the reviews.
One, two, maybe more
They pop-up two by two's!

I'm so darn excited!
The reviews are rushing in
Each says how great it is
And they just know I'll win!

Now the voting's started
I check holding my breath
But all the votes I see
Are sending mine to its death!

For two days I sit with
One vote to my name.
But there's another day yet
Left to play this game!

Still great reviews come in
My messages are full
With great comments
But my votes have no pull.

Time's up and the winner is
Someone else, not me
If all well-wishers had voted
A different contest it could be.

Author Notes
We all get lots of nice reviews, which we are thankful for, but when you write a review votes are what's needed to win!!!! It might not be me who wins but maybe one day it's you! Don't forget to vote!!
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
