"The Teachers' Strike" by pragmatic poet

The Teachers' Strike
(A retired teacher's POV)
The unions have changed a dignified respected profession to one of active arrogant avarice.
Let's face facts: a teachers' strike is nothing more than legal blackmail where the parents and children are the hostages.
"We're striking for the kids."
Hog-wash! It is about money and additional payments to the benefits.
The union has already coerced the province to a continual contribution to the pension plans and various health systems.
The salary of $92,000.00 (more or less) a year allows the teachers to own a house or condo, and quite likely a cottage. They have two months for summer holidays and enjoy every possible delegated holiday.
They don't do yard duty of lunch supervision.
The P.A. Days are nothing more than occasional reunions where very little is accomplished.
I recall a Director of Education mentioning that the quality of instruction does not improve as the salary increases.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
