"Disconsolate" by Emma Kathleen G

Nausea shot from his empty stomach up to his throat, bile burning his nose and esophagus, forcing him to throw up. His eyes stung with tears, and everything that had happened up until now overstimulated every nerve in his body as he began to shake and cry. He could feel his heart beating in his ears, pounding into his skull and echoing through his thoughts. His heartbeat melded with the music of distant shouting, and he felt fingers wrapping around him. With every ounce of strength left, he shoved them away and ran towards his best friend's small, lifeless figure.
