Bitch Session
"Don't Wake the Dogs" by Elizabeth Emerald

Shhh. Nary a whisper, lest you rouse the unquiet beasts that slumber fitfully in your brain. If that won't work for you, do the reverse: Maintain a continuous cacophony to distract them from their truth.

Allow me to introduce my canine companions: Alone, Lonely, and Lost. Whenever the background noise of their ominous growling encroaches on my consciousness, I slyly soothe them to silence by means of reading, writing, walking, talking, singing, dancing, running, shouting, rererepeat until they SHUT UP, so that I won't hear their incessant whining HOWLING that the love boat has long since cast me ashore to languish, alas, alone, erstwhile friends having sailed far out of sightline of my sunset, which is about to do the horizon-tal bop with my lonesome self sinking in synch.

But I digress. Perhaps you'd prefer plan A: a hefty daily dose of Xanax to knock the doggies down and out.
