a Sonnet
"Lockdown" by Sugarray77
Alas, my love, what are these words you speak,
that tumble from your tongue in hateful spite?
Your attitude is wrong and often weak,
you render me at fault and claim the right.

Our heightened tension must bear all the blame
for this reaction to our disarray.
This lockdown hibernation is the flame
that causes flare ups on the brightest day.

If we would stop and slowly count to ten,
instead of jumping at the slightest slur,
I'm sure our love would supersede the din
and none of this dissention would occur.

As bleak midwinter days are dark and cold,
so is the home where stress has taken hold.
