Things cannot continue indefinitely...
"Ominous Portents" by Y. M. Roger

Confusion’s caught us unaware,
And we know not the ‘how’ or ‘where’ –
Bombarded by uncertainty:
What can and will or will not be…

Suspicious thoughts feed jealous yen,
Without a link to ‘why’ or ‘when’ –
We suddenly mistrust our own:
Nescient when seeds of doubt were sown…

These velvet chains though indistinct,
Bind just as strong as steely link –
The burden they induce is real:
As pressure on a potter’s wheel…

But human spirit won’t be caged,
Nor have its freedom disengaged –
It cannot live in dark and doubt:
Watch as its dreams are cast about…

Caution’s one thing, control's another,
And o’er yon hill, a distant thunder –
Forebearer of future travails:
Confusion’s storms sire suspicion’s gales

**nescient --> pronounced here with the two-syllables: ne-shuhnt

This is not the direction I intended when I carved time out to write this today... but this is where the muse took the pen, and I didn't have time to walk away and distract him and try again... :) I do thank you for reading me (and him)! LoL! ;)
