My ever spreading forgetfulness
"Remembering Forgetting"
by jaybird1
|
I know that I should write to you
and tell you I am okay,
but my poor mind is fading fast.
That's affecting what I say.
Come night when it is getting dark,
with my night cap on my head,
I wonder, is this retiring
or, just getting out of bed.
I often stand before the fridge,
with a mind that's full of doubt.
Did I come to put food inside
or, perhaps to take some out.
Sometimes I try to remember,
as I'm standing on the stair;
Am I going up for something,
or just coming down from there.
So, I guess I'll have to write you,
though my mind is in a mess.
Forget it, I just remembered
I've forgotten your address.
