Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
A spiritual journey
"Turned Away" by equestrik
In the early years, life itself,
Was all the magic I needed.
The hills and ponds and polliwogs,
Brown eyed calves and frisky colts.

I dreamt of knights and noble steeds,
A hero strong if ever I was in need.
Clouds in the sky became anything I imagined
I believed I could be whatever I willed.

Then guilt crept in with a sense of unworthy.
I no longer thought as a simple little girl.
I began a search for magic or miracles true,
Looking for a power bigger than life.

My travels led me through the Holy Book,
Once, twice, maybe even thrice.
Many religions saw my face,
All of them vying for their "Truth", they wanted my 10%.

But I prayed for miracles others spoke of,
Or signs, or lightning bolts--something
But my quest for the truth left me wanting,
Believing that I indeed was flawed,
Turned down and away by even God.

So now I have come full circle again,
I've found the miracle I searched for
Was indeed in the hills, frogs and polliwogs,
And the frisky colts and rolling green hills.

But most of all, I truly believe,
That "God" is found in our souls.
And truth is discovered along the way,
As we journey through all that life offers.
