A poem about the Coronavirus
"Isolation" by toz666
News arrived
First victim died
Began in China
Blame applied

Italy next
Showed how it might be
Fighting an enemy
No one can see

Soon it was knocking
On every door
Laying waste
To rich and poor

But the old mostly
Lived in fear
As death cut short
Each golden year

And so the fightback
Was underway
Assisted by science
Tax raised to pay

But incurable pandemics
Don't happen each day
Our leaders seemed clueless
Policy changed every day

But people wanted action
A vaccine found
Corona must be conquered
With every dollar, yen and pound

But Johnson was a round peg
And Hancock a square hole
Both unable to grasp
The length of a ten foot pole

And so we went to war
The entire human race
Forgoing rights
But never keeping pace

Locked in and isolated
For our own good
Interrupted only
For food and firewood

After five months inside
I was desperate to find
The world I had lost
And a little peace of mind

But when the virus
Eased its grip
Normal life
Returned too quick

Crowded beaches
Enjoying the sun
Crowded pubs
Like a loaded gun

So lock and key
It had to be
To shield the weak
And old like me

I cannot bare
Much more of this
Isolation
I will not miss

And when I take
My final call
Corola, J will always say
Was my hardest fight of all
