In my living room by Colin John

So many objects and memories in this one space,
In a part of my living room and I will start with a face,
my mum and my daughter in a loving embrace,
Lake Tahoe to the right, a photo out of place.

A WWI dagger, a medal and brass cup,
held in a hand now broken into the dust,
my GGF Thomas who I never knew before,
redeemed in a painting that my fingers bore.

Two new paintings que, that will go on the wall,
picture frames dismantled so I can share with you all,
of Canterbury tales and a cathedral in the sky,
Don't stare at the windmill or you will have red in your eye.

Author Notes
So many things to bring memories back spanning 170 years, not forgetting the Shakespeare books in the bookcase from the 1730s.
