80 Word Flash Fiction contest entry
I looked up at the nurse.
"You have to go home."
Why? Because of this virus? I didn't speak my mind. I could do what the nurse told me and go home. To a structure that was an empty shell. Sit on the couch and watch TV by myself. Staring at my wife's empty seat; reminiscing on half-remembered memories.
No, that's not home.
I stood up and did what the nurse told me. I headed straight for room 304.
