The Gift of a Daughter
That's a wonderful poem. I am glad that you are a loving mother. Cherishing and loving should always go both ways. I wish that I could say the same about my mother. God bless you.

Lovely work :)

Hi Alicia. Well, you come on over to my house and you can be my daughter, too. My mom was a great mother, so I guess I learned from her. Thank you for your nice review. Marilyn

I am still trying to catch up from my week in Yosemite and glad I noticed your Father's Day tribute. Thank you for sharing the handsome picture of your father. I think many fathers of our generation were hard workers, who kept their feelings to themselves. I enjoyed your rhymed quatrains and am glad you are drawing closer to him. Smiles- Joan

Hi Joan. Yes, I think it was generational. Fathers today are much different and I think it's better for the family that they are more "present" than our dads may have been. Thank you for your review and comments. Marilyn

Being a street kid I am always in awe at someone, such as yourself, having the respectful memories of a parent. There are belief systems which state, we choose our parents. Maybe next time, like you say, it will work out.
I always enjoy your writing. You write in a simple direct way, while invoking the soul of the reader to 'feel' opposed to summoning the mind to analytical thought.

Hi Roy. Thank you for your super review and comments. Yes, that is my belief system, too. The soul chooses his/her parents to hopefully learn the lessons needed this time around. Marilyn

    Hi Marilyn,
You are more than welcome. It's always nice to have someone with many of the same beliefs. But, that's what baptism in fire will do for you. LOL.
    Be Well,
    Roy

I like this poem that oozes with great feeling and emotion. It's always so sad to lose a close loved one. It's like losing part of yourself. I really like the rhyme and flow of this. It's something that stands out in your writing. I enjoyed this Marilyn! Well done1

Don't worry about promoting--I always enjoy reading your work. I appreciate your imbuing this poem with your sadness and adding alternating rhymes to intensify the feeling. Warm regards- Joan

Hi Joan. Thank you. I wanted to put this poem in the "Picture This" book and also in "Family Matters." If you change the name of the piece slightly, it can go into two different books, but I don't expect reviewers to review for 2 cents. Marilyn

Hello Marilyn,
I believe that I have already read your what a call a pathos poem about how sad of how one feels when they feel so forlorn. Gert

Yes, Gert. I put two notes on the post to let readers know not to read this one. I wanted to include this one in my other FanStory book entitled, 'Family Matters.' Marilyn

It's too bad this isn't promoted, it would ear an All Time Best status. It hit all four criteria I judge poetry on. It rhymes, it makes sense, and it stirred feelings within the reader. Very nice job.

Hi Earl. Thank you for reading this poem. This post is a duplicate of the one I posted last week which was promoted heavily at that time and did reach ATB status. I included that note in this poem's description and in the author's note ~ that's the reason I didn't promote this one. I wanted to include it in two books on FS, which I have done. Thank you so much for taking the time to review this unpromoted piece. Marilyn

Reading this piece gives me a sense of loosing a loved one so near and dear to me. The loss leaves me feeling cold, having a difficult time hoping for a small amount of warmth to heat my soul.
