This is really good Marilyn. I love the message conveyed in it. It's out with the old and in with the new. This is good work and beautifully written. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

Hi Marilyn! Great photograph. It made me want to watch Abbott & Costello washing the high rise windows. Glad your keeping active in all these online poetry clubs. That was a beautiful poem to dedicate to your late husband. Lovely work. God bless you. Hearts & hugs, Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)

My Italian grandparents on both sides came to New York (where I was born) at the turn of the twentieth century--so, your poem resonates for me personally. I have always been captivated by the historic photograph as well. I admired your theme and rhymed quatrains in this tribute to Robert and all hard workers. Cheers- Joan

Hi Joan. I was told that this was a fake photo. Really! I had no idea. I thought it was the real thing. Nevertheless, it doesn't take away from the astounding accomplishments of the crews who built these high-risers. Thank you for your nice review. I remember that you said you were born in Brooklyn (I think). The Italians are A-ok. Love the culture. Marilyn

Yes, Brooklyn, and my husband grew up in Long Island. I'm not surprised that the photo was staged--it is still memorable! Smiles- Joan

I am still catching up after my trip and almost missed this clever post. I am glad you inspired by the Club's picture. I enjoyed your rhymes and appreciate being reminded to put out a water source for our feathered friends. Smiles- Joan

Call Me Tomorrow
Superbly done, Marilyn! I've seen another lento that didn't rhyme the first words but you did it perfectly and it all made sense giving us a model for young gals to follow and use caution with those romantic crooners who had too much to drink!

Hi Helen. Thank you for your review of my poem. I made the same mistake when I composed my poem, too. I had the "ing" endings but the first words didn't rhyme. So I changed them, making them all rhyme. It's a fun form to write. Marilyn

Not Just Pop Art
This is indeed not just pop art. I love the beautiful and awesome history lesson conveyed in this. Also the message about every country and people should have a flag with a rich history that it represents. I like this Marilyn and appreciate you sharing this informative and well written work. Well done.

Hi Jeffrey. Thank you for your review. In researching the image, this interesting info came about regarding the creation of the Pan-African flag and the man who was responsible for it. Marilyn

My Country's Flag
I agree, I think it's sad that the 'protestors' can desecrate and burn their country's flags get away with it. They want all the privileges, make the most noise, but do nothing for their country.Enjoyed your emotions in this one Marilyn,
cheers,
valda

Hi Valda. Thank you very much for your review of this one. It's irksome that there are those who hate living in a place but continue to reap the benefits of it. Marilyn

This is such a cute and fun story poem. I love the way you introduced the family and how you shared their table manners. Even down to their lip smacking.

Thank you Marilyn. It's difficult sometimes with the gap that grows between past sacrifices and the present trajectory of the country.
Very thoughtful sentiment. Thanks again.

It has been a very tough year so far. Car accident in February...... pickup truck smashed into us while we were stopped at a light.
Kathy's appendix burst in March. I got pneumonia in April and then a herniated disk in May.
Like the old saying goes..... "Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
Hope you are well and happy.
    Roy

Memorial Day and Veteran's Day are very patriotic days to the people of this nation. Not everybody understands war, but if it brings betterment... We must accept it. I liked reading your poem. Nice work.

Hi Alicia. Thank you for your wonderful comments and rating. No one is in favor of war/conflict. Peace is always better. The problem is that we must be vigilant because if we're not some prey upon the weak. The saying is, "The best defense is a good offense." If we want to remain free we have to make sure we protect ourselves. Hugs, Marilyn
