Flying Squirrel Peeks
I have never seen a flying squirrel in the wilds. Your personal confrontation is well-described and it's fun to see how the squirrel dealt with you interrupting its nap.
I hope Dot stays. Rod

Hi Rod. She's a cutie. Every time I go out in the yard I gently tap the side of the birdhouse where she's taken up residence. Since these animals are nocturnal, she comes to the opening. Her huge black eyes look out. I don't know if she can see in the daytime or not. Thank you for your review. Marilyn

I love your photo of little Dot peeking out and your descriptive verses about your surprise find in the bluebird house. Hope the bluebirds don't arrive and want a home.
cheers,
valda

Hi Valda. I think (hope) Dot is here to stay. The bluebirds, I'm told, have been driven out of Wisconsin by the wrens. People put up birdhouses to try to entice them back. Other animals and birds will occupy any cozy niche. Thank you for reading about cute little Dot. Marilyn

My Backyard
I have a small balcony, but I don't sit on it, because the door is next to the fridge and I'm scared I'll do something dumb and not be able to get back it. A backyard is nice. I remember those days. I would like to live in a house again. There's more space and comfort. Glad you have it all. Better enjoy some lemonade and talking to the birds. Nice work. Good poem :)

Hi Alicia. Thank you for your review of this older poem of mine. I appreciate that you found it and read it. I guess apartment living has its drawbacks just as any living situation does. I've lived in both--apartments and houses. I do prefer living in my own home. Marilyn

I am glad I dug back into your attic and found this gem. What a lovely way to express appreciation for your backyard with both the naani and glorious picture (with the ever-present birdhouse). Cheers- Joan

Black Squirrel
Such a sweet poem and photo. I love when animals visit from the wilds when you least expect it. They are just as curious as we are. Thank you for sharing your unique experience.

Hi Linda. Thank you for your review. My deck provides enormous pleasure watching the squirrels and birds. I haven't seen the black squirrel except for that one time. I sure hope he comes back again. Marilyn
