You told a great Welsh tale Jim, I've really enjoyed reading it.
You tied it up well with this test for both Ifan and Deryth.
Great write,
cheers,
valda

I'm with Maredudd , I wouldn't have been hanging around waiting for the tidal wave either. Great ending to this chapter with Ifan's decision to put the bay and the village before his own pleasure. Great to see Deryth return. loved it,
cheers,
valda

A great final chapter. It was interesting to learn that it was all a test for Ifan by Deryth. I loved the way it ended, you handled it in a unique manner for sure. Well done.

WOW, I did not see this coming!! Starting with "there are no such creatures as marchogion" and even then didn't suspect that Maredudd was not real either. Very interesting, and a perfect way to end this part of the story. Well done!! Now I have the treat of another chapter to read :))

Thank you for a great review that closes the account on this story. Six stars on a Saturday is amazing so thanks for those too. I am pleased you thought the ending good and that at least you did not think it too contrived. Of course fantasy is all contrived really, but I tried to keep an element of loggic runnning through it.

I am coming to the ending of the final tale in the trilogy and that is proving quite difficult to write.

Soon I hope it will be done, soon.

Hello Jim,
I thoroughly enjoyed your rendering. What a delightful, magical story told with keen knowledge of the characters, their motives, and insight. I was entranced by Deryth. But how relieved I was as well to know that Ifan had made the correct choice: a selfless decision...

I made note of two small areas that you may or may not wish to revisit:
That is the way with the young, even in the Tylwyth, (;) they must make their own way

If you don't believe me, go to Porthcawl, go to the fishing quay by there, and enquire of the fisherman (fishermen) as to the whereabouts of the house of Maredudd y Cimwch, and watch their blank, uncomprehending faces stare back at you in puzzlement.'

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for this very thorough review. I have corrected those two typos. Thanks for pointing them out.

I t is wonderful when readers begin to identify with characters as you have done in this review. That makes the hours of research and writing worthwhile.

And isn't this just a fine ending for this lovely tale. All of it a test and Ifan passed it. Thank goodness.

The lesson being one just never knows where these tests of integrity might lurk, so it's sound advice to build a solid foundation of worth inside.

I think this was a very well written story Jim, and the ending just perfect.

Well, well done.

Gloria

This is good. I like this because it is about mythical creatures. I love stories with fairies, and mermaids, etc. I also like that you are using the Welsh language. This makes it more realistic to me. This flows well. It is an easy read to follow. I didn't see anything incorrect, but I also don't know Welsh. Very well done.

I smiled at his rejection of the concept of iron ships. Imagine what he'd think about airplanes!
A sweet reconciliation. The meal a nice touch of realism. You added a surprising twist to the mermaid saga. Then you add another twist with the fisherman. You never cease to surprise.
And there's those violet eyes again. Most intriguing.
You even add a moral to the story, there Aesop. Da iawn.

I'm really sorry I don't have a six this time. I loved this story, and the ending was perfect. The test had to be made to see what sort of man Ifan really was, and he surely did pass with flying colours. A wonderful story, Jim. Well done, I loved the whole of it. :)) Sandra xx

Hi Jim, I haven't followed through on this wonderful story, and that is entirely my loss. But I'm so happy that Dyreth and Ifan have reconciled. They both made sacrifices, but that's what relationships are about. All the best. Ulla:))
