Chickadees Breakfast Chat ~ #8
That was a sweet story. I liked your personification of birds as human beings. Well thought out and clearly written. Good visual imagery. Good dialogue and narration. Excellent storytelling. Great work :)

All Trussed Up
That poor birdhouse has really had a hard time this summer. I am glad no birds or eggs were damaged either time the birdhouse fell. Seems like the squirrels may have been a little too much help.

Your poetry brings your backyard alive for the rest of us. Thank you for sharing.

Hi debi. Thank you for following the series. As "just an observer" basically of all the shenanigans in the backyard, it's been a wonderful experience to follow.

Blame does not always fall where one might suspect it should. Many times it is a case of cause and effect as this well crafted poem depicts. An enjoyable read.

Hi Marilyn! I'm really happy you're writing about the birds in a book. I came across this tidbit and my heart sank https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/19/world/north-america-bird-population-loss-scn/index.html Keep up the nice work.

I am a sucker for clever rhymes! And this ends with a super one! I think the personification is ongoing with all the chapters in this book. Nice job!

Very nice beginning to a long work. I like the rhymes, as they are not heavy-handed, just conversational. Nice personification of Mrs. Chickadee.

Hi Crystie. Thank you for reading the first post in the story. It's all real and what has happened. Of course, I made up the dialogue but the story is what has actually occurred. Marilyn

Jen Wren Takes Over
So miss Jen Wren waited till all the work was done and then bustled in and took over. I hope the Chickadee's hadn't already laid. Some birds seem to be passive and others not so. Enjoyed reading this chapter of their story Marilyn.
cheers,
valda

Hi Valda. I'm learning so much about birds as I observe them in my garden. The wrens are aggressive. It would have been my preference that the chickadees stay, but I'm sure instinct told them that the wrens would kill their chicks incubating in their eggs if mom left to feed herself. So they let Jen Wren have the nest. There were no eggs laid when Jen took over. A few more posts to go in the series. Thank you for your wonderful review, comments, and rating. Marilyn

So life in the bird world doesn't sound much different from our human world. One sees what the others have got and wants it too. Enjoying this saga,

Oh dear! Do you mean the nest is going to be raided by a wren? That is so sad! I've read about squirrels raiding bird feeders. It seems they are very adept at going where they're not wanted.

Hi Judy. Thank you for your review. Wrens do take over other birds nests and pierce the eggs that are in them. Marilyn

I love that you've told the tale of the Chickadees V the Wrens in their own dialogue speech. It will be interesting to see who wins out. Nice one Marilyn,
