Squeak is beautiful and you are her best friend. What a despicable behavior her former owners displayed. God will get them for that. I'm thrilled that with your love, she has blossomed. As I read this, I imagined her chasing and catching the ghosts of her former owners and destroying them--good thing, too. Thank you for rescuing that precious 'baby.' Respectfully, Jan

What a delight Squeak is. She was lucky you got her. What patience to go under the bed and work with her, and it was successful. Some of my cats have imaginary playmates. It's so funny watching them. Thanks for participating.

Barb,

hahaha Tooooo bizarre.

A couple - some dear friends of mine when I was really young - had a baby. At the time, they lived in an old, old house where the doors would open all by themselves and the air would click on or turn off all by itself. WEIRD STUFF.

Every time I was holding him (he was just a few weeks old at the time) he'd be cooing and talking and looking at me and we'd be talking so nicely. Then, all of a sudden, his gaze would go to a place above me or to my right or wherever and his eyes would go big and his mouth would form a big 'O' and he would get sooooo excited. He'd start jabbering away.

I would cautiously looooook around, but of course, there was never anything there. I've be like, 'Bobbbbby Raaaay, stop that.'

But he wouldn't mind me at all, of course, just kept having his talks with those mystery visitors. YUCK.

It was awful. hahahaha I was so happy when they moved out of that house! I dont' know if I believe in ghosts or not, but I was so uncomfortable there!

Glad you had someone to protect you!

My granddaughter would look at the ceiling and laugh. It was after her parents were killed and I know it was them she was seeing. Thank you dear friend

Barb, This is a very sweet, but somewhat sad story about your little ghost hunger, Squeak. That is so sad that people terrorize little animals as if they are doing noting wrong. You used great words and an adorable picture of Squeak. Thank you so much for sharing this story. love and blessings, Teri

Another fine poem, Barb--and I know I've said this before, but some people aren't people, they're assholes with skin--how can they treat another living thing like trash? I just don't get it

I love this story and thank you for rescuing that baby cat. I never heard of a ghost hunter before, but I know cats are guardian angels so why not. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your next writing.

Thank you for rescuing and caring for this beautiful cat. How dare anyone treat her so poorly. You are a light in her life and a gift to her. I'm sure she appreciates your rescue and your love. She looks like such a sweetheart. I'm sure she will protect you and keep you safe. Did you know that cats can sense when Death is approaching? They will go to a person who is chosen and stay with them to comfort them until the time has come. That is how much they love us.

A very well-written heartfelt story. I can understand what you've gone through. I had a cheating husband with drinking habits and I wished often that I could do something to finally get him out of my life, the third cheat was his last I took my three kids and go a thousand miles away before he got home from work.

This is also a hard story to read, knowing that it's happening in a lot of households. I have a friend who went through something similar, when he eventually started on one of her sons, that is when she left. You were very brave Barb, and certainly don't have anything to apologise about. Thanks for sharing,
cheers,
valda

Hello Barb Hensongispsaca
Yes, your story was difficult to read, why? my father was an alcoholic. And when he got angry would end up punching my moter.
So I understand of how you felt when you were writing your story. The best to you in this contest.
Gert
