I enjoyed your poem quite a bit. I don't always "get" the intention of the poet in some free verse poems; I find the language too lofty and esoteric, but with this poem it is clear and evokes warm feelings, memories and images that you have communicated so well!

You're very welcome, JLR. Trying to remember your first name, but also can't seem to find where I might have noted it (if you told me). Stay well.

Waters Tableau
I think it's a great compliment to the Sand Tableau. you caught the wave action in that "Inhale, exhale, ebb and flow" movement. The opening lines were also nice; we have that rolling effect, the waves rocking the boat, although I wonder about that 'ink' color. There is a darkness to it, a kind of underlying misgiving to it, that sometimes the sea has in it. estory

I like the Tableau form very much. It rather reminds me of an etching, which is to paint a scene with words which is very much what you have done here, J.

Excellent presentation and I do believe I could understand the image just from the poem itself.

Excellent contribution to your NaPo project.

Sand tableau
This tableau Sand drops us into the desolate and unforgiving furnace slash sandblaster that stretches to the horizon and isolates one's hopes of an oasis.

Yonder Oak
Jim,

I love the picture with all the crevices in the tree trunk.

Wonderful imagery with your selected words for this short poem: gnarled, relentless crush, bark reveal, tales of age.

I love it!

What a fascinating artwork and wonderfully descriptive poem in Tableau form to highlight its essence! It certainly did bring the Sahara to mind. I relished the "Prisms" and "grains of times past" imagery. Well done- Joan
