This article, Baby Snatcher, packs four death row inmates in here for the price of one. I see we offed them all in different ways: Hanging, electric chair. gas chamber, and lethal injection.

Note: ...and (hanged) on July 7, 1865.

Interesting story. I had no idea about either of these women or their stories. I am left wondering if the baby girl lived? What a very horrible crime.

A very well-written article about the baby snatcher and the price she will pay for her monstrous deed. Someone we ho does things like that deserves no second chances of sympathy.

Lisa Montgomery, like all criminals who do things that even the weakest of minds know are wrong, should all get what they have coming to them. Shouldn't they? I mean, is there any doubt they are guilty? Thanks for sharing.

Hey, Brett. It's good to be back and reading your fare again. It's been over two years. If I'm not mistaken (and I'm so often that), weren't you writing about race relations in the south during the war of succession? I like this post with its historical perspective and the way you chime in with your own point of view.

Even claiming mental illness, wouldn't it behoove us to separate them from society? They will keep committing the same horrible crimes otherwise. Of course, it will cause a lot of debate for/against capital punishment.

It is so tragic what people do, especially to a child. Both of them were money-hungry sociopaths who had no regard for life at all. Thanks for sharing this very sad tale. You did a great job. Shirley

Hi Brett, In principle, I'm against the death sentence in peace time and in a court of law. She's committed an act which is very difficult to comprehend, and I think the worst punishment would be isolation for the rest of her life. Death is too easy an escape. Let her live in fear for the rest of the time that is left to her. It will cost the tax payer, but so what, it could deter others to commit a crime like that. Ulla:)))

This is a horrible crime she committed, but how do we know she doesn't have a severe mental illness. I can't even imagine anyone doing a crime like this with something terribly wrong in their brain. I have a problem with the death penalty. I'm likely in the minority but It would seem to me that life without parole and forced labor to pay for their time in prison would be a better option. As you say, life is sacred, even a criminals.
