Hello Roy!
Your poetic verse is dynamic and powerful.
It speaks of your great faith and your lack of need for worldly goods.
I found these two stanzas especially moving:
For I own little in this life,
though rich in children, grands and wife.
And you can burn my home to ash,
but you can never steal faith's stash.

Send your army, grind men's bones,
for what I own is God's alone.
For time will judge the ferry's fare,
yes, I am rich... my cupboard's bare.

Your poem is very well expressed to capture the quandary of what freedom means and how 'good luck' is bestowed. Your faith is your bastion of righteous living that keeps you aware of what is important.
"Either all humans are equal, or they're not" is clearly a concept that some folks struggle with, to the detriment of humanity as a whole.

I think you are quite correct that what earthly wishes will not by you a dime of grace in this world or the next. I think if one is fortunate or clever or brilliant enough to gather riches he is still poor if he does not know the joy of sharing what he has accrued with those less fortunate. I think God does not give a wink about ones BANK account...but the ACCOUNT of one's life...ah, that reaps blessings!--Karenina

Hi Roy, this is yet another beautifully written poem that really gives food for thought. Yes, on a selfish note, there is no doubt in my mind that I have been lucky where I have been born and the part of the world my family have and does inhabit. Why should I begrudge that? I give to charity when I can, but I can't single handily save the world nor take on the full weight of guilt. I might as well give up living. This is a huge topic with no single answer. I loved the poem. Ulla:)))

Hello Roy, another really well expressed poem from you. Perfect in form and the content is wonderful. 'The only freedom that I know, is free my thought so I can grow.' Well said. It is the only real freedom any of us will really know. No-one can take that away.

Excellent

Yes, I don't think we have anything to boast about. We had no choice where we would be born. It is had to realize we are all equal because some are born into riches and other poverty. Some have Godly parents and some have ashiest parents or ever abusive parents. I'm not sure how everyone has a chance in this world, but I know God knows what he is doing.

I agree. If we're not here to help one another and spread God's word, what are we hear for? It would seem purposeless. I think each person is where he/she is meant to be. Everything can be taken away from us, but we still have God. When do you think the torture for that will begin?
