Really enjoyed your poem. Not only did you use those alveolar and velar consonants for the rhythm, you also used the assonance and alliteration. I liked the comparison of the standing erect like the mountain and the magnetism of the world at the poles, that makes use feel that we can feel the connection to nature, to the mountains in our very bones. Well done!

A very well-written poem about feeling the earth's rhythmic heartbeat beneath our feet make us realize how small and insignificant we are as humans measured to the greatness of the earth and universe.

Great visuals and imagery in this poem. It must be fantastic, to stand on top of a mountain and see the world below. I am very fond of mountains - they have aura and charm of their own. I live in the northwest Vegas - I am surrounded by mountains, I see Lone Mountain from my window - and that makes me happy.

This a very avant-garde free verse. I very much enjoyed it, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting comments and perspective. I always enjoy hearing about how people view my poems, and sometimes its very different from my own perception of them. I don't think I would classify this as avant guarde. It's in a more structured quatrain format with a more regular meter to emulate that heart beat rhythm. It's a format and style I picked up from Seamus Heaney, so it is really a style that has been around for a half century or so. I guess it would be mainstream, now. estory

Startling and vivid--heart beating in rock--pulsing with gems crystallizing rhythm--masterful metaphor and bold imagery. Notes nicely support this fine poem.

This is another marvellous elegy of praise, how else can we understand the might of this amazing being we loosely term God, biblically speaking, there is no name that can satisfactorily describe Him, and the expression of His grandeur is displayed in creation, "You are without excuse, oh man," says Romans, beautifully written again my friend, blessings Roy

Hi dear estory, your writings are always like a breath of air, that feeling of forgetting about ourselves, and being elevated as if in another dimension. Each work is an exercise in serenity. Glorious gift!

The stars are for the series, estory. You tackled an ambitious project with great success. This post #3 reminds me of a display in the Science Museum in London. Visitors rode an escalator through a cut out section of a mountain, marveling at the wondrous sight of colourful crystals and minerals that only prospectors and miners usually see.

As we tread the earth we walk unheeding over a treasure trove.

And underneath it all is the beating heart of Mother Earth.

Thanks for expanding my mind with your imaginative verse.

Stay safe

Blessings Julia

I think you most poetically succeeded in writing of that magical feeling one gets on the top of a mountain after a climb and just to feel all the wonder working beneath the soil.

A fine elegy to the Appalachians. :)

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
You did a good job depicting the Mountain's Heart using:
1. The beautiful color of amethyst crystal.
2. You have created a great image using "magnetized needle" in our bones which is a pure metaphor I think. The reason we are standing on earth is caused by gravity but it is hard to visualize it, too. So I enjoy the magnetism's image.

A very interesting poem.
