You know, my motto for the insanity nearly every time I tune into ANY news outlet (and, yes, I avoid MSM and extremes) is this, "Oh, why the hell not?".... think it would actually make me (and you!) laugh any other year except sanity seems to be a losing proposition... sigh. Great info and great response/proposal, Z, just keeps getting better, yeah? ;) Take care of you out there... ;) Yvette

    Hey Yvette.

Thanks for the positive and interesting review. I watch CNN and MSNBC for a few minutes every day. That is how I am able to find the most asinine and nonintellectual positions imaginable. I wish I could get them to invite me onto one of their blatherfests. "fish in a barrel" They are so intellectually flaccid, I could make my satirical suggestion sound like theirs and they would praise it.

I am actually considering a "journal" in 2021. I will edit it into a book. I will refute one position each day. Still thinking about it.

Have A Merry Christmas with your family.

What you've expressed is downright offensive but its well written and you have every right to think it. Structure and flow of the piece work well.
There's a minor grammar issue that most people get wrong. County Counsel, or any form of government is a singular thing, ergo an "it" and not a "they."

Thank you for taking time to review my satire. My view is this is how progressivism always finds a way to get to the deepest pockets to finance bad policy.

Funny end, brother. I'm so incensed over the same observations, that I have to check my mind out and go dark from the news when Fox puts it on again, or I might put my foot through the tv. They say truth is stranger than fiction. In this case, Emerald City and the Wizard of OZ makes more sense to believe in.

    Hello Stan.

It's hard to believe this is happening in our country. It's actually hard to believe that this would happen anywhere. It's a good plan though, because the law-abiding taxpaying citizens get to pay twice this way. Maybe the Wizard of OZ can save them.

I have cut way back on my news watching. I will watch MSNBC and CNN for about five minutes a day. Gives me enough enough fodder to write for a month.

    Thanks for the review.

    Robert

Robert,

Just when I think I've heard it all and that humans cannot stoop lower or get more stupider, I see or hear about something like this. The scary thing is I don't even doubt it. Sure. No exams for kids right now, because that would just put farrr too much pressure on them to actually take the initiative to participate in their new online learning. This rule is just about that smart. Or - maybe even more so...

If course, 'smart' is being redefined by the political left. I can't wait to see where we're headed. Thanks!

    Hello Robyn.

If I were an employment recruiter, I would be on the phone with every company in Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles every day. There have to be thousands of people looking for jobs to get them out of there.

You said that the left is redefining smart. They can't redefine it because they have no idea what it is. The just be like the media and make up some new term.

    Thanks for the review.

Robert - I enjoyed your essay. I was totally unaware of what is going on Seattle and am most intrigued by what path of logic could have led to this budget item. - Jerry

    Hi Jerry.

It's hard to believe this kind of stuff is going on in our country. The ex-police chief in Seattle says that the whole place is bordering on anarchy.

Thank you for the positive comments about the writing.

This might be funny if it were not so sad for the law-abiding citizens of a city which has foolishly elected ackward bass officials repeatedly for a long time. The policy you describe amounts to paying criminals to commit crimes. King County's $7.7 million budgeted for their "restorative justice program" quickly will prove to be inadequate to cover the need being created by this lunacy. Furthermore, though prison may seem a safe haven with food, shelter, and entertainment, it also would be life under total tyranny for honest citizens, while the criminals run free.

Regarding invasion by Antifa and BLM, it seems that state governors must request assistance from federal troops before they can be sent; and that has not occurred, as they appear to prefer chaos over law and order.

Where to send captured invaders? Let's not defile Antarctica. How about the shark-surrounded floating debris island in the mid-Pacific?

    Hello Mike.

Thanks very much for your great review and for the six Star award. It's hard for me to believe, but I got push back on this post.

The way King County doesn't, law-abiding citizens get to pay twice. They get to pay for the crime and then they get to pay back. In the meantime the criminal loses out on the street.

Under no circumstances should any sovereign area within the United States permit occupation. That is grotesque and unconstitutional.

I figure the Penguins at the South Paul could handle these clowns pretty easily. But you're right it would defile the entire continent. I had a better idea after I wrote this. I think the Marianas Trench would be the spot.

You are most welcome, Robert. As Chris Plante likes to say, the minds of leftist politicians and media people do not work as intended. Your new idea would show the invaders what it feels like to be pressured.... -- Mike

Hi Robert, just one comment to this otherwise well written piece. Has it ever occurred to you that the criminal would never be able to pay you a dime? Why do you think they steal? I'm not on the criminal's side, far from it. Put them in jail and let them rot. But without that law how would any of you be compensated? Ulla:)))

    Hello Ulla.

Restitution is part of sentencing for crimes here. It is done all the time. There is no statute of limitations on when the money has to be paid back. Requiring innocent people to pay for the crimes of the guilty is not very popular here. It is like asking the innocent taxpayers to pay twice. Seattle is bordering on anarchy in their local government according to the ex police chief.

Another great piece of writing Robert. First it was great that you served, most just forget about it. I loved your suggestion for winning Seattle back, a fantastic idea. MMM if I remember correctly it was the Native American Indians that first populated the country followed by the Spanish then the British and French we didn't even get to the Sovereign Citizens. Gosh darn they are so wrong. Well done.

    Hi Alie.

Thank you for your positive review and meaningful comments about the situation in Seattle. The city is bordering on anarchy.

I am certainly not an expert in the area but I do know that the city of Seattle was named for Chief Seattle of the Suquamish people.

I've been to Seattle a couple of times because Fort Lewis is in the area and that was a replacement station for shipping soldiers off to Vietnam.

Seattle is a perfect example of what progressivism does to a society. No one is responsible for their own actions.

Is there no end to insanity? My son lives in Seattle and it is a constant cause of great concern for me. Obviously, it appears that many Seattle citizens just pretend they have become ostriches and are sticking their heads in the sand. Personally, I am all for kicking invaders out of the country...the farther away, the better. If a person does not like America, they should go someplace else. However, that makes too much sense.

    Hi Janet.

    Hello Janet.

I have only been to Seattle a couple of times and that was many many years ago. It has become a pit of progressivism. Every location in the country that becomes so progressive results in a decline of the standard of living there.

The politicians in this country certainly have a way of discouraging people.

Thank you for your review and meaningful comments.

What a wry way of looking at all the craziness in this country. While I love your take on what's happening and what should happen, especially the part about putting the victims in jail where they would be safe, I'm afraid if anyone in Seattle read this, they might take it seriously and enforce it!

    Hi Susan.

Thank you for the great review and six star award.

You are probably right. This is satire but they would take it seriously. Progressivism rots the mind and prevents clear thinking.
