I thought the picture was great, Jose. I had to read the poem twice, late yesterday evening and then again this morning. You did a wonderful job of creating the journey from a boy to a man in this free verse. well done.

I loved this peek into your past, Don Juan. I'm glad your wife captured your heart and now a father, too. Tempered by the Holy Spirit and family is the best place to be. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal :)) XOs...

Very clever write. Honest and self deprecatory in the face of the youthful arrogance. "It s(l)ipped and broke a wing." The imagery is provocative and invites the reader to actually think hard about the write. Kudos -DJ. Hated the the shirt BTB.

    Thank you, DJ. :) for the typo and the stars. It's been a long time, my friend, but we are still around. Hope the next generation does better. I didn't like it either. :) Take care and be safe. Have a Happy New Year!

What a handsome bunch of guys! But you're the really serious one - so I'm having trouble seeing you as the "life of the party" but the girls chased you so maybe that made you the party guy. Then I guess you are taking about enlisting? That must have been a real harsh change in life. Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you, Helen. :) I wasn't always a saint, and I still need a long way to go, but I believe in my God, Jehovah, and His Son, Jesus Christ. :) Have a Happy New Year!

Arrogance can soon be tamed by a broken heart and this is when a boy becomes a man and understands the power in a relationship, you have some fond memories of youth intwined in these words, love Dolly x

I enjoy reading this poem because we all have experienced as you said: "Those were the days of yesteryear, when boys became men." Surely those are good memories.

I also like how you end this poem with "Now, it's your turn."

Very cleverly crafted.

Stunning phrasing--[Sugg; CAP] Isle of Vanity--Got in line and checked behind--curl lay on the floor. I don't get the reference to the crown or the fly.

sipped=>slipped? and broke a wing
