I could have sworn I reviewed this. It's not too late and I have six stars to sling. You sure nailed it. My son worked as a stocker thru the pandemic. The stores remained open. The ones not working sure had money to spend from somewhere. Your are essential to essential people. Great artwork choice.

I feel your pain, anyone working outside the home, in my book is essential. People around others such as prisoners they also need to be vaccinated because of safety for others. But if we are all patient and follow the rules, we will get through this.

    They changed it so we are, once again, considered essential. It's just frustrating, but I do know we'll all get there together. Thanks for the great review and wonderful thoughts :)

The people in grocery stores, Walmart, and dollar stores are, in my eyes, CERTAINLY essential! Without them I'd get awfully hungry--not to mention
smelly and unkempt!! LOL! Your well-written poem conveys a powerful message!

    They have changed it since I've written this. They have, once again, made us essential. It's just frustrating, but I think many of us are frustrated. Thanks for the great review and wonderful thoughts :)

A very well-written heartfelt poem. Government's promises only last as long as they can play politics with other people's lives and they have everything in abundance themselves.

    I'll be glad when this is all behind us, if it's ever all behind us that is. Thanks for the great review and wonderful thoughts :)

I reckon all people who work are essential and I thanked my local grocery store for staying open during the lockdown and what would we do without food! The panic to get the vaccine will soon be over as it is slowly being administered to everyone. Questions will certainly be asked about how this procedure was rolled out in the future. Grocery workers are as essential as health workers to me, love Dolly x

Meghan:

I absolutely agree with you. If people at the grocery stores did not
go to work, how would people have eaten and gotten the "essentials"
(toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc.) they needed so they could
stay at home. Good luck in getting your vaccination, kiddo!

    Since we're not essential I have to wait. Hopefully by this summer or fall, unless they run out I guess. Who knows maybe one day we'll be essential again. Thanks for the great review. Hope you're well

I'm seventy three and I have been told we are nonessential. EMT'S here in Southern California were told if a person has a heart attack (especially old people) and they cannot restart their heart not to bother bringing them to the hospital. Unessential.

    Well, in that scenario that's way more essential than I am. That should definitely be dealt with instead of just letting the person die. Big hugs. I'm so sorry. I have no words.

You're absolutely right, it's not fair. You are frontline workers, and without you, we couldn't survive. You can't do your jobs from behind a monitor and a keyboard, at home. You are in continual contact with the public -- hordes of us!

A few suggestions:

While, we slowly lost our sanity.
-->
While we slowly lost our sanity.

Until one day, we all wake up,
-->
Until one day, we all woke up,

and all grocery store employees are deemed unessential.

It's a good write, and I like your illustration artwork. Well said.

I'm glad your foot is better. Stay safe, my friend. And thank you for doing the important work you do.

Kindness went out the window when all this pandemic started. We don't couturier untilthey get in a bind then we count till they don't need us to fill the gap they we become nonessential again.

Hello Megan
What a great free verse poem and smiles to your author notes.
No way grocery clerks are non-essential..Good for you Megan for speaking up and saying ----that you
I just want to be on the essential list, somewhere, like we were at the beginning. To completely drop us like that is ridiculous. I'm sorry I started ranting. to be kind.
