It's amazing how those movies make us feel. I was a huge horror buff for many years. I liked the Alein series. Now, not so much. I love the way you centered this story. I'll try that on my next piece of flash.

Your story depicts much of what we all go through. I loved horror movies in those days, as well, but you'll never get me to watch one now. It's good to wean the scary things out of your life, knowing what you truly enjoy.

Gripping! Good call to use a manic pace--minimal punctuation works well to that effect, so I won't "correct" most of it.

That was a big treat for us [semicolon] there wasn't a whole lot of entertainment back then.

Capitalize and italicize (use advanced editor option) movie titles.

I don't watch any scary movies for the same reason you gave, Joanne. While the movies are fake, the nightmares they cause are real. You did a good job with your contest entry.
