I appreciate the message of this poem. The Gift of God and Science. I personally feel that one of the gifts of God IS science and the intellectual ability of man to discover God's many creations with "A handful of clay" and "a handful of dust."

A very interesting poem you don't normally see God and Science in one sentence :-)
I like your play on words, it works very well and paints a great picture.

I thought putting God and Science in the same poem would be interesting - to me they co-habit quite easily, but not to some others.

The Gift of God and Science

Your poem reminds me of a song, "all we are is dust in the wind."

Your poem flows well. The structure makes sense. It draws on emotions. it presents strong images. I would recommend it.

I remember that song - it's by Kansas, popular in late 70's.
Thanks for your comments. I think i'll go and play that song now for old memories.

This is beautifully composed, I love every word. However, I just watched Deep Impact, a movie about a huge meteorite hitting the earth, so this is a little scary..lol. I'm not ready to become dust particles! Thanks for sharing. :)

'The Gift of God and Science', is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. Penned with craft and skill. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work. I look forward to seeing your next post.

What are we if not something constructed by some molding and fire? This piece suggests to me that there might be a little more going on than we know.

Thanks for your review, Mia. For sure, there's always something more going on than we know - the universe is so huge and we can't be everywhere at once.

Wow! I really loved this one. We start as a "handful of clay" and end as a "handful of dust." Especially liked your pun in "what makes us matter?" It's God's love and His image in us that makes us "matter." Beautifully done!

A frolic into outer space here Lisa, and one day man will experience space travel much the same as taking a flight on earth, I just hope we don't end up as dust particles, a fun suite of 5-7-5 here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Oh, yes indeed, this habitation that we live and only borrow for a short time, to be returned to up its owner some future time, sums up existence, and the amazing things it has spawned, this is a gem of a suite of haiku, well done LisaMay, blessings Roy
